Karnal (Haryana) [India], July 23 (ANI): Two men were arrested after they ran over a policeman at a checkpost in the Karnal district of Haryana on Monday.
According to the Superintendent of Police of Karnal, Mohit Handa, the incident took place around 3:30 in the morning at one of the checkposts on Kachhwa Road in Karnal.
Handa further said that at that time, when the police had cordoned off the area, a Creta car approached the checkpost and when they tried to stop the vehicle, the men, instead of stopping the vehicle, ran over a policeman and fled the scene.
Later, the patrolling team found the driver and took him into custody along with another man who was in the vehicle.
“In the morning, around 3:30 am, when police had cordoned off the area on Kachhwa Road, a car reached the spot. The policeman there tried to stop the car but the driver, instead of stopping the vehicle, tried to run over the policeman. The patrolling team quickly found the driver and took him into custody,” Handa said.
The policeman, Sepoy Manoj, has suffered injuries and has been admitted to the hospital for further treatment, as Handa further stated.
“The policeman, Sepoy Manoj, who was present at the checkpost, has suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The driver is being interrogated. We will ensure that he receives maximum punishment,” SP Handa said. (ANI)
