Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], November 9 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader Ravula Sridhar Reddy on Friday criticised Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s padayatra along the Musi River, calling it a confusing move that fails to address the real issues.
Reddy argued that the government should focus on areas where people are actually affected and forcefully relocated, rather than conducting a padayatra in Nalagonda district
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy participated in a padayatra along the Musi river in Sangem.
Reddy’s concerns are rooted in the Musi River rejuvenation project, which has been marred by controversy. Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi, KT Rama Rao, has accused Revanth Reddy of spreading falsehoods and conspiring to execute the country’s biggest scam by discarding existing designs and programs that could be implemented at a lower cost

Speaking to ANI, Reddy said “The government is in confusion. It’s not going to help. I demand the CM to conduct a padayatra in places where people are affected and forcefully relocated. When you talk about the Musi riverfront rejuvenation, all those affected people are residing by the banks of Musi in Ambarpet or the central city. The problem is here in Hyderabad and you are doing your padayatra in Nalagonda district. It’s like a pain is somewhere else and you are putting medicine somewhere else.”
On October 19, the Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi KT Rama Rao criticised the Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy for spreading “falsehoods and making baseless” statements about the Musi River rejuvenation.
He also accused Reddy of conspiring to execute the “biggest scam” in the country by discarding the existing Musi designs and programs that could be implemented at a much lower cost.
At a press conference at the BRS headquarters in Telangana, KTR refuted Revanth Reddy’s statements on the Musi River project made on Thursday and alleged that Revanth Reddy is orchestrating the country’s “biggest corruption scandal” by inflating the Musi project cost from 16,800 crore rupees as planned by the previous BRS government to 1,50,000 crore rupees under the guise of beautification.
He noted the inconsistencies in Revanth Reddy’s statements and said that the project initially mentioned a budget of 50,000 crore rupees, which was later changed.
“KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy is orchestrating the country’s biggest corruption scandal by inflating the project cost from 16,800 crore rupees (as planned by the previous government) to 1,50,000 crore rupees under the guise of beautification. He pointed out inconsistencies in Revanth Reddy’s statements, noting that the Chief Minister had initially mentioned a budget of 50,000 crore rupees but later changed his stance,” a statement by KTR read.
KTR urged the government not to displace the poor for their corrupt plans and warned of protests if the project harms the lives and properties of the underprivileged. (ANI)
