Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 3 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Dasoju Sravan on Thursday slammed Telangana Minister Konda Surekha’s “derogatory” comments about BRS leader KT Rama Rao and actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya and said she has “no business continuing as a minister even for a second” in the state cabinet.
Sravan also appealed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to take action against her and remove her from the Telangana cabinet.
“The state cabinet minister Konda Surekha’s (comments are) absolutely defamatory, derogatory… civil society must condemn it. she has no business continuing as a minister even for one second after making such kind of derogatory remarks against women, film industry and also targeting our leader KTR,” Sravan told ANI.
He further lashed out at Surekha over her comments, saying, “The comments that she made are punishable… she is lunatic or mentally sick or she has a perverted mindset to create unnecessary political controversery and be in the limelight,” BRS leader Sravan said.
“I have seen today she giving some kind of statement that I am withdrawing it like stabbing somebody and then taking out the knife. The wound that a word would create is much deeper than the wound that would be created by a knife,” he told ANI.
“This kind of cheap rhetoric is uncalled for in decent politics. I appeal to Shri Rahul Gandhi ji to immediately take action against her to set the right precedent… remove her from the cabinet minister position,” he added.
Meanwhile, BRS Women Corporators on Thursday lodged a complaint against Minister Konda Surekha in Banjara Hills police station for her comments against KTR.
This comes after Telangana Minister K Surekha linked former Minister and BRS leader KTR to the divorce of Samantha and Naga Chaitanya, accusing KTR of tapping the phones of actors and blackmailing them.
“It is KT Rama Rao because of whom (actress) Samantha’s divorce happened. He was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of the actresses and then find their weaknesses to blackmail them. He used to make them drug addicts and then do this. Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family–everybody is aware that such a thing happened,” Surekha said while speaking to reporters earlier.
Surekha’s remarks sparked massive controversy, with several BRS leaders as well as superstar and Naga Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, condemning the remarks.
Nagarjuna Akkineni condemned Surekha’s remarks, saying that she should not use the lives of movie stars to criticise her opponents, and urged her to respect the privacy of others. Samantha also reacted to the remarks and said that her divorce was a “personal matter.”
Following widespread criticism, Konda Surekha clarified her remarks were meant to question KT Rama Rao for “belittling women” and not to hurt Samantha Prabhu’s sentiments. She stated that she would “unconditionally” retract her comments if Samantha or her fans were offended by them. (ANI)
