New Delhi [India], September 2 (ANI): Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday reviewed the heavy rains in various districts of Marathwada and directed the divisional commissioners to immediately assess the damage.
“Hingoli, Jalna and Parbhani received heavy rain last night. Therefore, the agricultural loss will be accurately estimated by tomorrow. A team of SDRF has been deployed in Nanded district. Jayakwadi Dam is 88 per cent full. 4 people have lost their lives and 17 people have been injured in this heavy rain,” Office of Fadnavis posted on X.
“88 animals have died in this heavy rain, and 160 crude houses have collapsed. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also directed that the administration should provide immediate help by making Panchnama for other damages including agriculture,” informed Office of Fadnavis on X.
Many parts of the country have been reeling under heavy rains and floods.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi convened a meeting on Monday to discuss flood relief efforts in Vadodara, as the state continues to experience heavy rainfall.
Speaking to ANI, Sanghavi assured that the state government would ensure that the affected people receive the necessary assistance from the insurance companies. He added that the government will ensure that relief material is being provided to the flood-affected people.
In Telangana’s Khammam district, the water level of the Munneru River has increased. Congress MP from Khammam, Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy said that the floods have caused damage to houses and the people have been rescued.
“It’s not raining now…But due to the flood houses have been damaged…People have been rescued…Food relief has been provided…Rehabilitation work is also underway…” said the Congress MP.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy ordered officials to set up a call centre to monitor relief and rescue operations.
“A call centre should be set up in the collectorates and linked with the command control center. Police battalions should be trained on NDRF model for emergency services during heavy rains. 5 lakh financial assistance to the families of those who died due to floods,” read the post. Compensation should be increased for cattle, goats and sheep that died in floods. A comprehensive report on the flood damage should be given to the Centre. Write a letter seeking central assistance immediately.” the Telangana CM said. (ANI)
