Delhi Traffic police receives around 50 complaints regarding waterlogging issues due to heavy rainfall – World News Network

New Delhi [India], August 1 (ANI): Amid heavy rainfall in the national capital, the Delhi Traffic Police on Wednesday received over 50 complaints regarding waterlogging issues from across Delhi from 6 pm till midnight.
According to the Delhi Traffic Police control room, they received around 50 calls for waterlogging and several calls for traffic jams from 6 PM till midnight. Local traffic police officials were informed through the control room, and action was taken.
Meanwhile, three people also lost their lives in two different incidents in the national capital.
A heartbreaking incident occurred in PS Ghazipur’s area where 22-year-old Tanuja and her three-year-old son Priyansh tragically drowned in a waterlogged drain.
Apart from this, a person lost his life when an old structure collapsed in Delhi’s Subji Mandi area.
According to the Delhi Fire Service incident that occurred around 9 pm on Wednesday, after which 5 fire tenders and the NDRF also rushed to the site. After efforts, the dead body of a person was removed from the debris.

Similarly, calls related to traffic and falling trees have also reached to these departments. Apart from this, five cars were damaged when a wall of the private school collapsed due to rain in the Daryaganj area, Five vehicles were parked outside the wall.
According to the IMD, Delhi observed 147.5 mm rainfall.
Salwan Station Mayur Vihar in East Delhi observed 147.5 mm rainfall from 8:30 AM July 31 to 7:15 AM today whereas station NCMRWF, Noida Sector 62 in Gautam Buddha Nagar, UP observed 147.5 mm rainfall, as per the IMD.
Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said he had asked officers to remain on alert.
“Have cautioned all officers to remain alert in light of the ongoing heavy downpour in Delhi. Apart from ensuring minimum inconvenience to people in general, they are advised to specifically address issues at sites prone to waterlogging, including coaching centres,” he posted on X.
Delhi Education Minister Atishi announced late last night that all schools in the city will remain closed on Thursday.
“In light of the very heavy rainfall this evening and the forecast of heavy rainfall tomorrow, all schools, both government and private, will remain closed on August 1st,” she posted on ‘X’.
The IMD has cautioned that the showers are likely to cause slippery roads, low visibility, traffic disruptions, and localised waterlogging in low-lying areas.
According to the IMD, intermittent showers are likely in Delhi till August 5. (ANI)
