Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 9 (ANI): Pointing out the Congress’ defeat in the Haryana Assembly election, BJP National spokesperson CR Kesavan said on Wednesday that the party is “repeatedly losing” the elections due to its anti-people, anti-Dalit, anti-OBC, and anti-democratic policies.
“After being repeatedly rejected by the people and routinely routed in the elections, INC now stands for India Negates Congress…The people in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana handed out a massive drubbing to the Congress party…Where is Rahul Gandhi? Why was there no reaction from him? Why has he gone into incognito mode?” Kesavan told ANI.
“The Congress party tried to cast a shadow over the sanctity of the electoral process. Congress is repeatedly losing the elections due to its anti-people, anti-Dalit, anti-OBC, anti-democratic policies…PM Modi, with his visionary style of leadership, has ushered in a new era of pro-incumbency,” he added.
The Congress in Haryana could not capitalise on the 10 years of anti-incumbency of the BJP government. The BJP won 48 out of 90 seats in the Haryana assembly, while Congress managed to win 37 seats. Independents won 3 seats, and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured 2 seats, according to Election Commission data issued on Tuesday.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress was part of an alliance led by the National Conference. The alliance won 49 seats out of 90. But the major chunk of the seats bagged by the alliance were the contributions of the NC, which won 42 seats.
The Congress won only six of the 32 seats it contested; of the six, only one was in Jammu. In contrast, while the BJP failed to open its account in the Kashmir Valley, it swept through Jammu, winning 29 seats.
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday night visited his mother and sought her blessings after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Haryana assembly polls with an absolute majority.
Saini contested the elections from Ladwa assembly constituency and won with a margin of 16,054 votes against Congress’ Mewa Singh and independent candidate Vikramjeet Singh Cheema.
“After the election results were declared, I took blessings from Mother. Mother welcomed me by applying a tilak. Mother’s love, mother’s blessings are the elixir for living life,” CM Saini said in a post on X.
CM Saini attributed the BJP’s win to PM Modi and hailed his leadership.
“I want to thank the 2.80 crore people of Haryana for putting a stamp on the works of the BJP for the third time. All this is only because of PM Modi. Under his leadership, we are moving forward. He spoke to me and gave his blessings. I had faith that the poor, farmers, and youth of Haryana would bless me,” he said earlier.
“Politics is only a medium of service for us. I assure all the people of Haryana that, as always, I will remain present in your service as your servant. The trust of the public is most important for us, and we will never let this trust break. We will always strive with the resolve to make our Haryana healthy, happy, and developed,” he added. (ANI)
