New Delhi [India], July 26 (ANI): Karnataka’s BJP MPs protested over the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Valmiki Development scam in the parliament premises on Friday.
“After the formation of the Congress government in Karnataka, chaos and corruption have increased. The whole country has witnessed that. The funds for the development of the most deprived sections of society are being used for political and personal gains by corruption. It is a matter of disgrace that the money for the Scheduled Tribes has been used for corruption by the people in the most senior positions,” National Spokesperson of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and member of the Rajya Sabha, Sudhanshu Trivedi said.
Trivedi further said, “The Congress government was given at least 35 to 40 minutes to speak today on the MUDA case in the assembly. We demand that the corruption done by the Congress government of Karnataka be properly investigated by a high-level probe and the Chief Minister of Karnataka should also take moral responsibility for it.”
“The Congress has looted the Scheduled Tribes. I want to question the Congress on what they have done with the money,” he added.
Earlier today, the former Karnataka Chief Minister and MP Basvaraj Bommai alleged that the Congress has looted Rs 1087 crore of the people in the Valmiki Development Corporation case. He also questioned what Rahul Gandhi was doing when the money of the Dalits was being looted.
“The Congress has looted Rs. 1087 crore from the people in the Valmiki Development Corporation case. What was Rahul Gandhi doing when the money of the Dalits was being looted? Such looting can only be done by the Congress party,” he said.
Further, he said, “If they are right, let them allow the CBI to investigate.”
Additionally, BJP MP Jagadish Shettar spoke about the MUDA issue and said, “Siddaramiah is not ready to allow hearing the case in the assembly. All the leaders of the opposition have been demanding a discussion, but detailed discussions are being denied, which shows the BJP is the culprit. This is the reason why the BJP is holding a protest,” he said.
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar however claimed that the CM was above suspicion in this case and the BJP was only trying to destabilise the government.
“My CM and his family are very clear that they had a property that was gifted to the CM’s wife. It was taken over and encroached upon by MUDA. So, Govt of Karnataka & MUDA decided to give compensation. The BJP is trying to tarnish the image of the Congress govt and destabilise the CM and the state government,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP is likey to stage a 10-day Padytra against the alleged scams of the Siddaramaiah government. The padayatra is likely to begin on July 31. (ANI)
