Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 30 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ram Kadam on Wednesday hit out at the Congress and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi for questioning the government’s decision to call off military operations post-Pahalgam attack, asserting that India acted in its national interest and not under any foreign pressure.
Kadam questioned the Congress party’s stance in Parliament, asking why they are following “Pakistan’s script.”
Responding to Gandhi’s pointed remarks in the Lok Sabha during the debate on Operation Sindoor, Kadam said, “What else does Rahul Gandhi want to listen to? Why are they (Congress) reading Pakistan’s script in our Parliament again and again?”
He added, “During his speech in the Parliament, PM Modi clearly said that India did not come under the pressure of any other country to stop the war. Our motive was complete, and that is why we stopped it.”
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Janata Dal (United) Member of Parliament Lovely Anand lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address in the Lok Sabha, stating that he had effectively answered the concerns of both the citizens and the Opposition regarding the recent counter-terror operation.
Speaking to ANI after the Prime Minister’s speech during the special discussion on Operation Sindoor, the JD(U) MP said, “PM Modi gave all replies to the people of the country and the Opposition. The killing of people was given a befitting reply.”
She stated earlier, repeated terror incidents were met with political silence or the “politics of appeasement and vote bank.”
Anand said, “Earlier, terrorist attacks used to occur, but people here used to do the politics of appeasement, politics of vote bank. I would like to thank jawans of the armed forces due to whom the country is safe today. Such a reply was certainly needed.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that no leader in the world told India to stop Operation Sindoor, carried out to retaliate against the Pahalgam terror attack.
PM Modi’s remarks have come amid Opposition parties targeting the government over United States President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that he brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. India has firmly rejected any claim of third-party mediation, stating that the cessation of hostilities came about after Pakistan’s DGMO called his Indian counterpart.
Speaking during the debate in Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor, PM Modi also said that India has proved that nuclear blackmailing will not work anymore, and neither will India bow down to nuclear blackmailing.
The Prime Minister said that he told US Vice President JD Vance during a telephonic conversation that India will respond strongly if Pakistan launches an attack in response to India’s Operation Sindoor.
India launched Operation Sindoor early on May 7 and conducted precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK. As Pakistan resorted to escalation through military action, India pounded Pakistan’s air bases. (ANI)
