New Delhi [India], June 27 (ANI): After the “re-appointment” of Sam Pitroda as the Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday took a jibe at the Congress party and said Prime Minister Modi Ji had already predicted this development.
The statement came after Sam Pitroda was re-appointed as the Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, with the assurance that he would not give any statement which “in future leaves room for controversies to arise”.
Sharing a post on X, the Union Minister wrote, “Prime Minister Modi ji has already said! Rahul Gandhi Ji’s adviser who said, South Indians look like Africans, North-Eastern people look Chinese, West Indians are like Arabs & North Indian are whites is reinstated. We are not surprised as PM @narendramodi ji had predicted.”

Along with the text, the Union Minister also shared an old video of Prime Minister Modi in which he said that Sam Pitroda doesn’t give controversial statements by chance, rather, it’s the Congress party’s strategy to create new issues in the country.
He said, “I don’t think he does it by his choice, as after his controversial statements, he is suspended from the party, and after some days, he is again seen in the mainstream works of the party. It’s a well-known strategy of the Congress party to create confusion, change the environment, and add new issues to the nation. So, they play some tactics from time to time.”
Earlier, on Wednesday, Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh said that Sam Pitroda was re-appointed as the Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress on the assurance that he will not give any statement in future that leaves room for controversies.
“During the recent election campaign, Sam Pitroda had made some statements and comments that were totally unacceptable to the Indian National Congress. By mutual consent, he stepped down as Chairman of Overseas Indian Congress. Subsequently, he clarified the context in which statements were made and how they were later distorted by the Modi campaign,” Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X.
“The Congress President has reappointed him on the assurance that he will not in future leave room for such controversies to arise,” he added.
An AICC release said earlier in the day that the Congress President has reappointed Sam Pitroda as the chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress with immediate effect.
Welcoming the decision, Indian Overseas Congress Secretary Virendra Vashist said, “@sampitroda Ji has been the father of the communication revolution in India. The NRIs are very happy with the Congress leadership giving the command of Overseas Congress to Sam Pitroda Ji because Sam Pitroda Ji is a true Gandhian. Many thanks to Honorable Congress President @kharge ji and Leader of the Opposition @RahulGandhi ji.”
Pitroda had resigned from the position earlier in May this year amid controversies surrounding his remarks regarding the appearance of Indians. The Congress party then distanced itself from Pitroda’s remarks. (ANI)
