Kanpur, (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 8 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday underscored the strength of India’s democracy, emphasizing that its foundations are rooted in the hearts of the Indian people.
“India is also the largest democracy in the world. But also the most ancient. Democracy is rooted in our hearts. And there can be no better example of democracy. That is the tradition of India that has never imposed its point of view on anyone,” Adityanath said.
CM Yogi Adityanath was addressing a conference of women members of the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly in Kanpur.
“I can say that countries in the world where they call themselves progressive countries. In those countries, women are represented in the legislature there. The representation of women in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly is 14 to 15 per cent and a little above 10 per cent in Uttarakhand, which will increase in the upcoming times,” the UP CM added.
He also stated that Uttar Pradesh’s assembly completely runs on paperless mode.
“Today all sisters have been present here in Kanpur. The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the last two and a half to three years is known for its innovation. It is known for new experiments. One legislative assembly within the country has implemented e-legislation. He comes first by successfully implementing this law,” Adityanath stated.
“Paperless assembly can also happen in parliamentary democracy. In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. We got to see the paperless assembly, which is the largest assembly in the country,” he added.
Earlier, Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday morning said that Uttar Pradesh was among one of the leading states in the country, and it has become so only in the last seven to eight years.
While addressing a gathering on the occasion of the 28th National Youth Festival in Lucknow, Adityanath pointed out that people were hesitant to tell others that they belonged to Uttar Pradesh, merely a decade ago, given that there was no security and development in the state.
“If you remember Uttar Pradesh from a decade ago, people used to be hesitant telling (others) they were from this state. There was no security, and riots happened. There was anarchy and hooliganism everywhere. We were way behind on development. UP ranked first population-wise. This state was backward in every sector. However, UP has risen to the ranks amongst the leading states of India in seven to eight years,” Adityanath said. (ANI)
