Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], August 4 (ANI): Haryana Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) and Congress workers joined the BJP in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini on Saturday.
Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini welcomed them into the party.
Earlier on Thursday, former Rajya Sabha MP Mamata Mahanta joined the BJP, a day after resigning from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
After joining the BJP, Mamata Mohanta said that her only aim is the service and welfare of the common people.
“My only aim is the service and welfare of the public. It can be fulfilled only by joining the BJP,” Mohanta said.
Mohanta, who belongs to the Kudumi tribals of Mayurbhanj, resigned from the BJD and Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
Haryana is one of the eight states that will be holding legislative assembly elections this year.
In these elections, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will jointly contest the upcoming Haryana elections.
In the 2019 Haryana Assembly polls, the BJP won 40 seats, the Congress won 31 seats, the JJP won 10 seats and the INLD won 1 seat.
The Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 are expected to take place on or before October 2024, as the current Assembly’s tenure is set to end on November 3 this year. However, the election schedule is yet to be announced. (ANI)
