New Delhi [India], July 28 (ANI): Dharmendra Yadav, a relative of one of the three deceased students in the Old Rajender Nagar incident, demanded on Sunday, demanded a case of culpable homicide be registered against the institute’s owner.
“Those who have given birth, only know the value of life, and it shouldn’t be lost due to mismanagement. I demand that a case of culpable homicide should be lodged against the owner of the coaching institute,” Dharmendra, a relative of Shreya Yadav who died in the basement of a IAS coaching Centre due to flooding on Saturday.
Three UPSC aspirants died in the basement of a popular IAS coaching institute in Delhi’s Old Rajender Nagar on Saturday after the basement was flooded with water.
He also highlighted the lack of transparency and mismanagement surrounding the tragedy.
“I received no information officially, either from the coaching institute or administration. I saw the news and approached there, I went to the mortuary and asked them to show me the face for identification but they denied saying it was a police case. They showed me a paper where her (Shreya Yadav) name was written… When the news of students death started coming … I called the coaching institute, they told they couldn’t reveal the names but two causalities had happened…
Earlier today, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena asked the Divisional Commissioner to submit a report, covering every aspect of the tragic incident by Tuesday.
“What has been happening is unpardonable and such issues can no more be glossed over. I have asked the Divisional Commissioner to submit a report, covering every aspect of the tragic incident by Tuesday,” he said in another post.
Delhi Police arrested two persons, the owner and coordinator of the IAS coaching center after three UPSC aspirants’ died in drowning incident. The police identified the victims as Shreya Yadav, a native of Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana; and Nivin Dalwin, a resident of Kerala’s Ernakulam, DCP Central M Harshavardhan told ANI.
Police have informed family members of the deceased and sent the victim’s bodies to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal expressed outrage over the delay in action against the officials responsible for the loss of the lives of three UPSC aspirants at an IAS coaching institute and said that the deaths should be termed as ‘murder” instead of a disaster.
The AAP MP stated that an FIR should be filed against government officials, as no minister from the Delhi government, the mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, or any other officer had responded even hours after the incident.
Speaking about the Old Rajender Nagar Coaching Centre incident, Swati Maliwal said, “The students are very sad and angry. It has been more than 12 hours, and till now neither any minister of the Delhi government nor the mayor of MCD nor any officer has come. I believe that these deaths are not a disaster. This is murder. An FIR should be registered against all these big government officials.” (ANI)
