Kohima (Nagaland) [India], June 21 (ANI): The Indian Army marked the 10th International Yoga Day on Friday by organising yoga sessions across states like Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Manipur. Over 5,446 participants took part in the sessions across these states.
“Indian Army marked 10th International Yoga Day with over 5,446 participants across the states of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur, emphasising the holistic benefits of yoga for physical, mental and spiritual well-being,” as per a Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh press release.
The day was celebrated with synchronised sunrise yoga sessions and community engagements, highlighting the Army’s commitment to wellness, unity and peace.
In Manipur, 3,454 personnel participated in events at Moreh, Gwaltabi, Senapati, Leimakhong, Bishnupur, Ningthiching, Phougakchao, Ikhai, Kumbi and Kangvai. At Leimakhong military station alone, 500 Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and other ranks joined with their families, showcasing the inclusive nature of the event.
“Assam saw 1,601 participants in Laipuli, Rupai, Digboi, Charidwar Pengri, Margherita, DK Gaon, Makum, Phillobari, Dirak, Daisajan and Kakopathar. Special sessions were organised at Kakopathar Junior College, Purbottar Vikas Parishad Orphanage and locations in the Tinsukia District, engaging over 450 teachers and students along with Army and Assam Rifles personnel,” the release said.
In Tripura, 197 participants gathered at Elbert Ekka Park in Agartala, emphasising the importance of holistic health. Mizoram’s Aizawl saw 71 participants, while Nagaland’s Chakabama, Zakhama and Dimapur hosted 123 personnel.
“These widespread celebrations reflect the Indian Army’s dedication to promoting yoga’s benefits, fostering community ties, and honouring a 5,000-year-old tradition that contributes to global harmony in body, mind, and society. The Indian Army extends warm wishes to all, celebrating yoga as a symbol of unity, health and inner peace,” as per the release. (ANI)
